One *billion* tons of instrumented Ice (a cubic kilometer). I helped build it during the austral summers of 2005/2006 and 2007/2008 and ran it during the winters of 2006 and 2008. It was completed over a year ago and is running quite nicely.

6000 km ring = much bigger than where I live or the LHC!
The primary mirror of the Keck telescope has a bigger area than my apartment. Maybe that really means I live in a small apartment.
