A SMALL SAMPLING OF LETTERS RECIEVED REGARDING TOILET SEATS AND GAME THEORY

In reference to this For once and for all, the argument is NOT about the toilet “seat” being left up or down, it’s the “lid” of the toilet that the argument is all about!!!! In 1975, Charles Gerba published a scientific article describing the phenomenon of bacterial and viral aerosols due to toilet flushing. It states, every time a toilet is flushed, an aerosol plume of contaminated water droplets is ejected into the air and lands on everything in the bathroom, including you, your toilet paper, clean towels & toothbrush! During the study, gauze pads were placed around the experimental…

AN ANGRY RANT ON THE SUBJECT OF SUPERSTRING THEORY

Superstring theory is hot with scientists trying to understand the entire nature of the universe (as opposed to, say, inventing a way to block cellphone reception in cinemas). The idea is that all the particles and forces in the universe are different notes on appallingly tiny strings. A key tenet of this theory is that there are at least ten dimensions, that’s six more than the four we can access, but that the others can’t be measured or in any way observed because they’re too small. Seriously, that’s the entire argument. And an invisible and untouchable dog ate their homework.…

SECONDARY EDUCATION

Thirty years ago, I failed at school. Since then, washing lines and roller blinds have taught me all I need to know of pulleys – more than ever Mr Roberts (maths) was able. I’ve found that sound is energy, as every tug resisted turns to squeak.       I sort the clothes in sets, but socks still disappear through worm holes in the wash or wrap themselves in m??bius chains (though less so, now I’ve mastered static electricity and use conditioner).       No doubt Miss Jones (domestic science? history?) would be proud of my monarchial skills: I can tell King Edward…
